Flint Group Packaging Solutions plans for dynamic future following rebrand

The rebrand of both Flint Group and Xeikon is intended to better serve customers on a global scale and account for a changing business landscape.

Pepyn Dinandt, CEO, Flint Group Packaging Solutions

The label and package printing business has evolved considerably over the last decade. The implementation of new technologies on a global scale has transformed the state of the industry. That shift was on full display at LOUPE Americas. The show catered to applications beyond labels – flexible packaging, shrink sleeves, and folding cartons, to name a few. Modern converters are increasingly growing their portfolios by expanding into new markets.

In an embrace of the industry’s evolution, Flint Group and Xeikon recently underwent a significant rebrand to better position the company. Flint Group has become Flint Group Packaging Solutions (FGPS) and, within it, Xeikon has become Flint Group Digital Xeikon (FGDX). Both FGPS and FGDX operate symbiotically for the benefit of FGPS’ valued customers.

“Our business today is very different from what it was 10 or 15 years ago, and the rebrands reflect that,” explains Pepyn Dinandt, CEO, Flint Group Packaging Solutions. “Our heritage is in publication printing, but we’ve had a strong presence in packaging and labels for more than 40 years. Today, the overwhelming majority of our business is focused on packaging. The Flint Group Packaging Solutions name reflects both where the business is today and where we see the greatest opportunities ahead of us in the market. The rebrands simply better reflect the business we’ve become.

“Many label converters are expanding beyond traditional label applications into areas such as flexible packaging and folding cartons,” adds Dinandt. “The Flint Group Packaging Solutions name reflects this broader market and our ability to support customers as they enter new applications. Our narrow web expertise remains central to the business. Customers can also draw on a wider portfolio of inks, coatings, digital technologies, and technical services across multiple packaging formats. As converters diversify, they need partners that can help them manage new substrates, technologies, sustainability expectations, and regulatory requirements. Our packaging-focused identity signals that we are equipped to support them, whatever packaging demands next.”

For Flint Group Packaging Solutions, the goal is to establish a clearer, stronger identity that reflects the company’s focus on packaging and the value we deliver for our customers.

“Flint Group Packaging Solutions brings our inks, coatings, digital technologies, color expertise, and services together under one packaging-focused organization,” remarks Dinandt. “This makes it easier for customers to understand the breadth of our capabilities and access the right expertise across different applications and printing technologies. Ultimately, we want the rebrand to reinforce our position as a trusted partner that customers can rely on for quality, performance, regulatory support, and purposeful innovation. It also provides a strong platform for future growth as packaging requirements continue to evolve.”

Operational synergy

The changing nature of labels and packaging has prompted Flint Group Packaging Solutions and Flint Group Digital Xeikon, as part of the Group, to operate with far more synergy than in the past. For example, customers are becoming larger and more sophisticated. Many now operate across multiple sites, packaging formats, and printing technologies. They are seeking suppliers with the scale, breadth of solutions, service infrastructure, and regulatory knowledge to support these requirements.

“The synergy comes from bringing Flint Group Packaging Inks and Flint Group Digital Xeikon together within Flint Group Packaging Solutions,” explains Dinandt. “Flint Group Packaging Inks’ core ink and coating portfolio remains the foundation of the business, generating more than €1 billion in annual revenue, while Flint Group Digital Xeikon broadens our capabilities through digital printing technologies across both toner and inkjet platforms for packaging and labels. This is also reflected in the way we combine Flint Group Packaging Inks’ expertise in coatings with Flint Group Digital Xeikon’s digital press technologies to provide integrated solutions for digital and hybrid print applications.

“Together, these capabilities enable Flint Group Packaging Solutions to support customers across both conventional and digital printing,” Dinandt continues. “As converters expand into new technologies and packaging applications, they increasingly need larger, broader suppliers that can support multiple platforms rather than individual products. Bringing those capabilities together within Flint Group Packaging Solutions means we can continue to support our customers as their businesses evolve.”

Digital expertise

The Xeikon rebrand has focused on many of the same factors impacting its parent company. “Digital plays an important role in the future of packaging printing, and with Flint Group Digital Xeikon, we are well placed for what lies ahead,” comments Dinandt. “The rebrand underscores that our digital offerings are integral to the overarching packaging solutions business and that we will continue to build on the reputation Xeikon has established in digital printing over the years.”

Digital printing continues to represent a significant opportunity within the packaging market, too. The new identity will allow the digital business to capture that growth. “When you look at growth rates, digital printing is one of the fastest-growing sectors within the packaging market and is expected to deliver double-digit annual growth over the coming years,” states Dinandt. “That is why Flint Group Digital Xeikon is such an important part of Flint Group Packaging Solutions.”

Part of the new identity also includes strong leadership. “The leadership changes are about building on what Flint Group Digital Xeikon already does well while strengthening its role within Flint Group Packaging Solutions,” says Dinandt. “Xeikon brings together digital hardware, software, and consumables across both toner and inkjet technologies, and our focus is on helping customers adopt those technologies where they deliver the greatest value.”

Sustainable shift

In addition to market expansion, the entire value chain has emphasized the importance of sustainability. From suppliers and converters to brands and consumers, the environment is top of mind for many. Increasing legislation plays a part in this shift as well.

For example, the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, which began applying in August 2026, is intended to reduce packaging waste and support a more circular economy by introducing requirements over time around packaging minimization, recyclability, recycled content, reuse and labeling. In North America, customers are also navigating an evolving range of requirements at the state level.

“The direction of travel is toward packaging that uses less material and is easier to recycle, without compromising product protection, print quality, color consistency, or the look and feel that brands rely on,” says Dinandt. “This will influence decisions around packaging formats, substrates, inks, coatings, and print technologies and require closer collaboration between brands, converters, and their suppliers.

“Flint Group Packaging Solutions is well placed to support customers through this transition. We bring together a broad portfolio of inks, coatings, color expertise, regulatory knowledge, and technical services with toner and inkjet technologies. By supporting customers across conventional, digital, and hybrid printing, we can help them understand evolving requirements and identify solutions that balance sustainability, performance and brand impact,” concludes Dinandt.
